About Us

Tyler Tjeerdsma opened Rugged Cross Stable’s doors in April of 2014, to boarders and has since grown into one of the largest boarding, lesson, and training operations in the Sioux Falls area as well as most recently, jumping into the world of breeding. RCS strives itself on top of the line nutritional and managerial services and provides customers with a stress-free and enjoyable escape from everyday life regardless of their preference for showing or pleasure riding.

In 2018, Courtney Tjeerdsma moved back to South Dakota after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Equine Science and Management at the University of Kentucky. While attending UK, she rode on both the Western and Saddleseat Equestrian Teams. She came home with the vision of bringing part of the horse capital of the world back with her. She launched the current lesson program at Rugged Cross Stables which has grown to reach hundreds of kids and adults in the area.

The mission of Rugged Cross Stables is to establish and maintain a strong, passionate equestrian community, one inclusive of all breeds and disciplines, and sharing a common bond through their love of the animal and sport. Rugged Cross Stables will strive to provide a climate of learning and enjoyment that improves the life of each of its clients, whether they be owners, students, or horses.
